BE CAREFUL WITH WORDS

“You want word play… Entrepreneur he found him a new craft. A round of applause, congratulate that… ‘Cause when he get rich you gon hate that… I bet the haters try they best to break that…” Young Jeezy, “Word Play,” The Recession, 2008.

RIGHTEOUSNESS. Happy Friday Daily Dosers. It’s Labor Day weekend! This is the last moment of summer to bask in the sunshine, and relax before getting back to business. Last moment to get your dream team together to support, and lift you up before transitioning into the Fall season. Fall is the time to plant those seeds that we want to see harvest in the Spring. So while we are preparing ourselves, let us also prepare our minds to think before we speak. I have friends whose parents told them as children, “sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you.” Unfortunately, this is not true. Words hurt, especially when they come from people you know and/or care about. Also, words can not be taken back.  They get inside the head and the heart, and most of the time they never go away.

The DDR: NEVER say something that you don’t mean. Words are powerful and can have a lasting impact on people. Life and death are in the tongue as the Good Book warns us. speak life into those you encounter. As you congregate with friends and family this holiday weekend remember to think before speaking. Let’s use our words to strengthen, support, and encourage one another. You never know what someone could be going through. Be safe, and see you Tuesday. Peace.
