BALANCE. HARMONY. RECIPROCITY. Eightball and MJG is one of my favorite southern hip-hop artists. Their album On Top of the World is considered a must-have if you are a fan of the music and a student of the culture.  The lyric I selected for this morning is “Space Age Pimpin’”; a song about a relationship with a woman. However, there is substance in the hook that I believe is palpable to our everyday lives.  Let me explain.

The woman on the hook sings “New day, new age,” and then goes on to say “Every once in a while this is how we slang (or play) the game.”  She then says it again: “New day, new age” before ending with “Nothin is too strong.”

The DDR: Everyday is its own day.  One of God’s greatest gifts is that we are given new mercies each new day to make right what happened or didn’t happen the day before. That’s what I love about life.  We do what we can, and then we move on.  So if you are doing your best, continue.  If you are skating by and you know you are then my advice to you is to get it together and to stop wasting the time granted to you by the Universe. Forget yesterday.  Start today. Yesterday is over and done with.  Only look forward.  Peace.
