PRAY READY FOR CHANGE

“Obama for mankind. We ready for damn change so y’all let the man shine. Stuntin on Martin Luther, feelin just like a King. Guess this is what he meant when he said that he had a dream.” Young Jeezy featuring Nas, “My President,” The Recession. 2008.

BALANCE. HARMONY. RECIPROCITY. I must admit my indifference with how President Obama is approaching our economic crisis.  The wealthy has and continues to build their fortunes off the backs of the middle-class and the poor.  Every week he makes a weekly address to keep us up-to-date with the happenings of the federal government, and as of late his focus has remained on everyone “working together” to improve the economic crisis.  I’ve often struggled with how “everyone” is expected to “work together” when we are not Congress.  We are not the Democrat and Republican decision-makers sitting around those large wood-grained tables drafting solutions for cutting our debt and creating more jobs.  So what can I do? Pray. What can we do? Pray, wait, and hope that the leaders we’ve elected will not make cuts that will effect the poor, middle class, and elderly community anymore than already. I read about “The Gang of Six” yesterday.  This group of three Democrats and three Republicans who are charged with drafting an air-tight proposal for cutting the national debt approximately 6 trillion dollars over the next decade. If it’s not on-point, President Obama has the power to veto it.  Let’s pray that he remains true to his convictions and steadfastly committed to a courage that will move him to have the final say in this if he has to.  There are many already in the bread lines, and others about a check away from being there.  Let’s also keep the less fortunate in our prayers.

The DDR: As you wake up this morning and turn on your swag, make a mental and spiritual commitment to getting our country and our world back in alignment with the Universe. The power is in the prayer. Peace, love, and soul.
