“This is somethin like the Holocaust. Millions of our people lost. Bow our heads and pray to the Lord…” Jay-Z & Kanye West, “Who Gon Stop Me,” Watch the Throne, 2011.
TRUTH. Good Monday Daily Dosers! Glad that we were able to withstand the lift-off into the reaching of our dreams. As we work toward them, we have to remember to compile a positive and healthy dream team around us; this is important to making sure we and our goals are sustained. This time next week I will be living in Boston. As I continue to prepare, I continue thinking about what I want to accomplish. A reoccurring theme from my mentors has been the phrase, “to whom much is given, much is required.” This quote always puts me in a mindset to serve others. While I serve I want to also be someone that strikes a healthy balance between saying “thank you and you’re welcome.” In 2009, Kanye talked about this balance in his book displaying the same title. But serving can always get cloudy because people may forget to show their appreciation for you; meaning you get into the habit of saying “you’re welcome” when the truth is there is nothing wrong with being a giver and a receiver. Think about it, are you someone that’s always saying “thank you” or “you’re welcome?”
The DDR: EVERYONE deserves to be treated equally. If you have people around you who are constantly saying “thank you,” maybe you should re-evaluate. If you are the one consistently saying “you’re welcome,” maybe you should take a different look in the mirror. The goal is to strike a healthy balance between the two. And remember if people on your dreamteam don’t make the time for you, then you shouldn’t be making the time for them! Teach Love.

Congratulations Dr. Joyce on your Harvard assignment. Prayers for safe travel to Boston and the success of your work there. Thank you for being a role model and mentor for my daughter–with her so far away from home, it is comforting to know she has people on her “dreamteam” that help keep her grounded! Thank you Mrs. Smith. I am just seeing this comment so pardon my tardy response. Zaneta is such a bright star, and it’s great to see her find her way. I’m glad that she’s on my dreamteam and I am on hers. Thanks for allowing me to mentor her.
